Getting Started

1. How can I join a company-specific talent pool on OpenTalent?

Candidates can join a company community in one of three ways:

  • Via the company’s onboarding page on OpenTalent
    Candidates can join directly through a company-specific onboarding link, usually shared by a recruiter. They will appear on a verification page, where recruiters must review and approve their profiles before granting access.

  • Through an invitation from the company
    Recruiters can send invitations directly from the platform. When a candidate joins through an invitation, the verification step is skipped.

  • By applying through the platform
    Candidates can navigate to Communities, find the desired community, and click Apply. They will then appear on a verification page for recruiters to review and approve their profiles.

2. Can I also be invited to join a community?

Yes, you can be invited by the company recruiters or employees who are already part of the OpenTalent platform.

3. Is there a cost to join the community?

No, joining the OpenTalent platform and company-specific communities is completely free for candidates.

Verification & Membership

4. What happens after I apply to a company community?

After applying to a company community, your profile will be reviewed by the company’s recruiters. If it meets the criteria, you will be contacted to gather
further details (sometimes through a phone screening). Once approved, you will become a member of the community.
Note: The phone screening stage currently applies only to candidates in the USA.

5. How long does the verification process take?

Companies aim to verify candidates within 48 working hours. However, the timeline may vary depending on their internal processes.

6. What happens if my invitation to join a community is declined?

If your invitation to join a community is declined, you can still remain part of the OpenTalent global community and apply to other company communities.

7. Can I join more than one community?

Yes, you can apply to and be part of multiple communities, depending on your profile and approvals.

8. How long can I stay in a community?

You can stay in the community indefinitely, unless you choose to withdraw or are removed by the company recruiters based on suitability.

Data Privacy & Security

9. How is my personal data handled?

We only use your data to connect you with relevant job opportunities. We never sell your information or use it for any other purpose.

10. Is my data secure on OpenTalent?

Yes, OpenTalent follows strict data privacy protocols to protect your personal and professional information.

11. Can I deactivate or delete my account?

Yes, you can request to deactivate or delete your account anytime by contacting our support team through the platform.

AI Tools & Premium Features

12. What tools are available to help me with my job application?

OpenTalent offers an AI-powered tool that assists with:

  • Resume optimization

  • Cover letter creation

  • Mock interviews

  • Negotiation training

13. Are these AI tools free?

No, they aren’t. The AI tools are available with a paid subscription. Community membership is free, but access to the advanced AI features requires a subscription.

14. How can I access perks and discounts?

Once approved into a community, you will find a dedicated Perks section in your dashboard with discounts selected for OpenTalent members.

Profile & Platform Features

15. How do I edit my profile?

To edit your profile:
1. Navigate to My profile.
2. Click Edit Profile in the upper-right side of the page.
3. Make your changes.
4. Click Update profile.

16. How can I retrieve my password if I forget it?

To retrieve your forgotten password:
1. Navigate to OpenTalent.
2. Enter your email address and click Continue.
3. Under the Password field, click Forgot password.
4. Confirm the email address where the password reset instructions are sent and click Continue.
5. Click the link received in the email. You will be redirected to create a new password.

17. Can I see which companies have viewed my profile?

Currently, you will not be notified of profile views, but you will be contacted if a company is interested in moving forward.

Communication & Notifications

18. How will I be notified if I am matched with a job?

If you are matched with a job, you will be informed via email, SMS, or phonecall, based on your preferences and the contact consent provided during
onboarding.

19. Will I receive regular updates about job opportunities?

We aim to keep you informed about relevant job opportunities and industry news at least once a month, or more frequently when suitable positions become available.

20. Will I get spammed with marketing messages?

OpenTalent does not send marketing emails to candidates. We only share relevant and valuable information, such as job opportunities and industry updates tailored to your interests. These communications are entirely optional, and you can unsubscribe at any time while still remaining a member of the community.

21. Can I unsubscribe from all communications and still remain in the community?

Yes, you can manage your communication preferences:
1.  Click next to your name in the upper-right corner of the page.
2. From the drop-down list, select Settings.
3. Navigate to the Notifications tab.
4. Select the type of notifications you want to receive.
5. Click Submit.

Community Engagement

22. Can I interact with other candidates?

Yes, you can casually connect with fellow members to share ideas, advice, or just chat.

23. What kind of conversations are encouraged in the chat?

Professional and respectful discussions are encouraged, including career advice, interview tips, and community building. Spam, abuse, and promotions are not permitted.

24. Are there any community guidelines I should follow?

Yes, all members must adhere to the OpenTalent Community Guidelines, available here.

25. Can I invite friends or colleagues?

Yes, you can invite up to 5 friends or colleagues to join the platform.

26. Do I receive a reward for referrals?

Yes, you may be eligible for a referral fee if the person you invited is hired through the platform. For more information, refer to Get Paid.

Jobs & Hiring

27. How do I apply for jobs on OpenTalent?

Once you are in a company’s community, you can view and apply to their open roles directly on the Job Board page by clicking Apply for the desired job.

28. Will I get priority over external applicants?

Yes, members of a company’s talent community are prioritized before recruiters look for candidates externally.

29. Will I get feedback if I am not selected for a job?

Feedback is based on the company’s recruitment process. While we encourage it, there may be instances where it is not provided.

30. Does joining a community guarantee me a job?

No, joining a community improves your visibility and access, but it does not guarantee a job offer.

31. What types of opportunities will I be considered for?

You will be considered for contingent hiring and other relevant opportunities that match your profile.

32. Does OpenTalent play any role in the hiring process?

OpenTalent facilitates direct sourcing and talent matching, but the platform is not involved in the final hiring decision.

33. What should I do if I have a question or encounter an issue?

34. How do I report inappropriate behavior or spam in the community?

If you encounter inappropriate behavior or spam, report it through the platform by clicking Chat with us in the bottom-left corner of any page. Community guideline violations are taken seriously.
